Getting started

Your first hour in Overrank: the tutorial, your class, your first rifts, the forge and the first rank.

1. The Threshold (tutorial)

You start in The Threshold: your first dungeon, then a short tour of the city. Finishing it awakens you and gives the Awakened badge. You get a starter weapon.

2. Pick a class

Every new awakened is a Human: no class, +8% to all stats and +10% XP, with the whole General skill tree open. Open the class window (status window, Change class) to choose one. The first change of a profile is free; later changes cost shards. Not sure? Look at the class list and read the Difficulty and Role of each. Assassin, Tank, Mage and Support are good first picks.

3. Spend your points

Each level gives stat points (3 per level up to level 30, then 2, then 1) and one skill point. Put your stat points in the stats your class focuses on: see the 7 stats. Mistakes are not final: a stat reset costs 120 shards per point (500 at least).

4. Clear rifts

Rifts open on the squares of the city's quarters, grouped in four danger zones. Start in the Docks zone (low danger: Namsan, Mapo, the palace garden's square for new awakened) and take rank E rifts; the transit kiosks take you there for free: Rank E rift. Beat the guardian to close the rift. Bring friends: a party holds up to 4 and gives a bonus to XP.

5. Get stronger

  • Spend your shards at the market and at the forge.
  • Open chests and kill elite monsters: they can drop gear.
  • Collect your daily rewards and redeem the codes.

6. Climb the ranks

At level 10 and 5 cleared dungeons you can ask the Awakened Registry for rank D. A re-evaluation is free, once a minute. Full road: Progression path.

Tips

  • Do not rush rifts far above your rank: the game refuses you if the gap is too big.
  • Weaker monsters give less XP (−20% per rank below yours).
  • Join a guild from rank D to unlock its perks.
  • Check the odds hub before spending shards on random rolls.
